This depends on your lifestyle and the way you prefer your living arrangements to be. It also depends a lot on your financial situation. If you're in a dorm, it may not be a lot of choices. But you have an apartment or shared house, you may be able to arrange this.

It 100% depends on your financial situation. I will say that having your own room/bathroom is fantastic. That being said, if you're in a tight spot financially, I recommend you save any money that you can. So consider where you're at financially and go from there!
I think it depends on the person. For me personally I would 100% pay extra for my own room at least because I like being able to control what time I go to sleep and wake up and all that. However some people are more easygoing with that stuff, so it really depends on your preference and your financial situation.

It really depends on your personality, the personalities of the people you are living with, and your budget. Are you the type of person who likes their privacy/personal space? If you are, then definitely go for it.

I think it is 100% if you are the type of person that absolutely needs their own space and needs to stick to their own schedule. If you find yourself suffering mentally and physically because you need to deal with the extra noise your roommate produces at odd hours or conflicting standards of clean, you definitely should consider paying more. Personally, I think communication makes sharing space worth it when it comes to saving money. However, if I were unable to share my personal space, I would definitely consider paying more for my own room and bathroom.

I've been fortunate in that I've actually never had any issues sharing a room and bathroom. I've had great roommates and we were somehow always able to work out a schedule for the bathroom that allowed all of us to use it when we needed to. However, after a few years of sharing a room and bathroom, I do think it's worth it to pay a little bit extra and have some added privacy. It depends on your personality and budget, but in general it seems that students like to have the added independence that comes with having their own space for the last year or two of college. The last two years of college are always stressful, since you're probably going to be working in addition to your schoolwork and trying to decide what to do after you graduate. This heightened stress may make it more difficult for you to live with someone, and you might find that you need a bit more time to yourself. For this reason, I think that--if you can afford it--getting your own space is definitely worth it!

If you have ample financial support and want the freedom that comes with having your own room, I'd say yes unless you're someone who gets lonely easily and enjoys the company of a roommate. If you get along well with your housemates, it could be more fun to live in a room with them, but of course if you're an introvert or you need your own space, the single room is worth it. I think the bathroom in particular is the biggest perk, because we all know that sharing a bathroom can be annoying for plenty of reasons (can't always shower whenever you need to, can get messy, gross, etc). I'd probably say yes because of the bathroom alone, but again, low-income students might consider just trying to have a roommate who you are close to and able to live with.

I prefer to my have privacy, especially in my room. Since I'm introvert, I need my alone time, so I think it is worth to spend the extra money to have a private room. Having a private bathroom is a luxury though. Yes, it's nice to be the only one using the bathroom, but sharing the bathroom is not so bad. If you have the financial stability to spend a little extra on rent to have your own bathroom instead of spending it on something else, then go for it!

It honestly depends on your personality and your financial budget. This past year and this upcoming year I have/will pay extra to have my own room and bathroom because I am a neat freak and I wake up super early and go to bed early. Most of my friends share bathrooms and are fine with it, but they love having their own room. If you can afford to pay a little extra I think it's 100% worth it.

If you have the right roommate, sharing a room and bathroom does not have to be a big deal. But if you only have to pay "a bit more" to get your own, it is definitely worth your peace of mind to do so. However, only if it is a bit more and not a whole lot more. Make sure you know where and when the line has been crossed in this regard.
Francine, I think absolutely. I've been through some AWFUL, truly awful, housing situations. It would be totally worth it to me to have my own space. However, I guess it all depends on your financial situation. If you're okay with sharing a bathroom and some space with some other people, by all means, save the money!
